As a small business, we believe every little bit counts, and we're committed to doing our part in reducing our impact on the environment.Â
In the effort to reduce the use of plastic, we've made the important decision to bottle our liquid products in aluminium instead. Unlike plastic, aluminium is infinitely recyclable, which means it can be recycled over and over again without losing its material integrity. In fact, according to the records from The International Aluminium Institute, 75% of 1.5 billion tonnes of aluminium ever produced in the world is still in productive use today. By choosing aluminium, we reduce close to 90% of single-use plastic in our product packaging as a whole.Â
We're also working to release refill packs to help optimise the consumer life cycle of our aluminium bottles. Considering that most refill pouches that currently exist in the market are made of virgin plastic or plastic blends, we decided it did not make sense to refill our aluminium bottles with plastic pouches. This is why we set out to develop refill packs that are specifically made from kraft paper instead, creating a truly sustainable refill system.Â
While we're very proud of what we're able to accomplish in this area so far, we understand that there is still a long way to go. Here are some other ideas we consider exploring in the near future:Â
- Continue to source materials locally whenever applicable, and work with manufacturers and printers that provide eco-sustainable alternatives.Â
- Drop-off and collection points for recycling to make the process more accessible.Â
- Refilling stations to reduce the material and energy consumption of manufacturing new bottles and packaging.Â
